Doug has over 35 years of experience in the practice of pharmacy, from working as a cashier and pharmacy technician at 15 in a small independent pharmacy to his current position as an owner of Prescriptions Plus Pharmacy. In his role, Doug oversees all the day-to-day operation of the pharmacy from filling prescriptions accurately and quickly to managing staff and inventory.
Prior to owning Prescriptions Plus Pharmacy, Doug worked as a Director of Outpatient Pharmacy Services at Jefferson Regional Medical Center (now Mercy Hospital Jefferson) where he ran the retail pharmacy, the nursing home pharmacy, and coordinated all pharmaceutical needs for hospice care. Prior to working at the hospital, Doug worked in several retail pharmacies around the St. Louis area.
In 2004, Doug went back to his independent pharmacy roots and opened Prescriptions Plus Pharmacy with Jeff Elbl. They saw an opportunity to bring the wealth of their collective pharmacy knowledge and experience to the people of Jefferson County through providing expert care to patients in the community.
Doug received his degree from the St. Louis College of Pharmacy.
Jeff has over 30 years of experience in the practice of pharmacy. He has 12 years of direct acute patient care experience serving as the lead clinical pharmacist for Jefferson Regional Medical Center (now Mercy Hospital Jefferson) in the areas of infectious disease, antibiotic utilization, nutritional support, pharmacokinetic drug monitoring, pain management and many more.
Jeff has extensive industry experience serving in the Medical Science Liaison (MSL) role for several major pharmaceutical companies including Pfizer, Bayer, and Millennium-The Takeda Oncology Company. He also served as Senior Director of Clinical Services for one of the largest compounding pharmacy organizations in the United States and is now currently the Director of Clinical Services for a newly formed company, United Compounding Management where he works with Prescription Benefit Managers and Compounding Pharmacies to try and preserve individualized compounded medications as a benefit for patients.
He has lectured all over the country on topics such as Improving Physician-Pharmacist Communication, Pharmacoeconomics, Treatment of Multiple Myeloma, Pain Management, Wound Care, Nutritionals in Psychopharmacology, Individualized Medicine, and numerous other topics related to the practice of pharmacy and medication use.
Jeff partnered with Doug Rademaker in 2004 to open the local retail store, Prescriptions Plus, in Festus, MO with the goal of providing optimal medication therapy for patients in the Jefferson County area.
Jeff’s special interest areas are Pain Management and Nutritional and Metabolic Supplementation. Jeff has been instrumental in the development, evaluation, and marketing of several novel products.
Jeff’s hobbies include: Staying abreast of development in pharmacy, spending time with family, hunting, fishing, farming, and boating.
